About this video
The 2022 ULVAA Barrie Edwards Memorial Lecture took place on Tuesday 5 April and was given by Professor Paul Lunn, who was appointed Dean of the School of Veterinary Science in January 2022.
Paul originally received his BVSc from Liverpool in 1982, and after early years in practice in the UK he followed a career in veterinary academia on both sides of the Atlantic. During this time, Paul served as Dean of the North Carolina College of Veterinary Medicine, and President of both the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians and the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges before returning to Liverpool. It was not all work, good times were had along the way, and much was learnt about how academia works (and sometimes doesn’t).
The talk explores some of the more eccentric parts of the journey and asks some questions about what is next for our much-loved profession.
