Cystatin C - The Key to AMD

About this video

Cystatin C is one of the most abundant transcripts in the retinal pigment epithelium. A variant of the protein, termed variant B, has been linked with an increased risk of developing age-related macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in people of 65. In this project, we examine some of the protein-protein interactions of cystatin C in the RPE in order to understand some differences between the wild-type and variant B forms.
