Oceanography is the study of all aspects of ocean size from the physics of how the ocean moves across the planet. The chemistry of nutrients and trace elements and pollutants through to the biology from the single celled tiny plankton up to the Fish and large marine predators. By mixing together all these different Sciences, we can address a really important global questions with Oceanography. For instance, how does the circulation of the tides and the different ocean temperatures control the growth of plankton and therefore the distribution of Fish and ultimately where the fishing vessels can go. Or what role does the ocean play in regulating earths climate by absorbing and transporting heat around the Globe and also by removing CO2 from the atmosphere? Our teaching and research at Liverpool use data collected at C and also computer simulations to answer these really important global questions. So whether you're interested in Biology, Geography, Physics, chemistry or maths, we've got a degree program that will broaden your cyantific schools and teach you how the oceans play a fundamental role in the earth system.
